CURRENT UPDATE: Friday, February 26th, 2010 - 10pm
Hi Everyone,
The latest windstorm definitely left it's mark. There are approximately 30-50 trees down across the trails - some small, and some large enough that you would have to take your skis off to get over or around them. The weather is too warm to get the snowmobile and equipment out on the trails to do any tree removal. We will now get to all the tree work later in the spring. The trails are covered in debris and the snow is completely water logged and very heavy. Our road is starting to experience mud season conditions, making travel up and down the hill quite challenging.
So it's time to say thanks for coming out this year. We hope you enjoyed the ski season. See you next year.
If you are interested in volunteering for our Fall trail work parties just drop us an email.

We had a very successful weekend hosting the US Championships in Ski-Orienteering on Saturday, February 13th. We had 70 competitors from many States along the East Coast. The men's winner was a local skier from Craftsbury, Adrian Owens, beating out many Eastern European and Russian skiers. The women's winner was Alex Jospe from Cambridge, Mass. Most of these competitors were skate skiers and it was amazing too see how fast they moved on the trails.

Beaver Brook Farm Ski Trails are entering their eleventh season of operation. Our goal is to create recreational opportunities within our working forest environment. In the winter that means providing high quality cross country skiing and showshoeing on 20 km of well groomed ski trails. As well as assisting the local VAST snowmobile club on trail 145 that runs for 3.5 km through Beaver Brook Farm.
There is no trail fee, everyone is welcome, and trail maps are provided. The only thing we ask is that you leave your dogs at home. Our hours of operation are from 8am to 4pm daily. Snowshoers are always welcome and in fact encouraged because they can really help pack the edges of the trails. Skate skiers are also welcome. Early in the season, the trails are groomed without tracks and all trails are open for skating. As the snow levels deepen and we start to double track certain trails, those are the ones we ask skaters to avoid.
